2000 Jungong Lu,Yangpu,near Yinhang Lu

This little known Yangpu gem is as close as you can get to a forest in the entire municipality. A picnic area provides barbecue pits for families looking to rekindle traditional outings in the country. Within the depths of the foliage rests a bamboo forest and plenty of other florae not usually identified within our industrious city.
We ended up trading our BBQ plans for a picnic when we heard how dirty the BBQ pits were, which turned out to be a pretty smart decision. This place is a bit hard to find, but is overall a nice park with grass that you can actually sit on; go figure! Try flying a kite outside the designated "flying square", and and the kite nazis will scream at you with a megaphone.
This is such a sad excuse for a municipal park - what a dump. And they have the gall to charge you for entrance. The "bbq" area is a freakish gated shantytown where people squat over dirt patches to roast msg-soaked gristle (provided by the park at a nice mark-up) over low-grade hibachis that emit about as much heat as a light bulb.
excellent park/forrest. A park where you can walk on the grass!!! You can take a subway (Line 8) and then a short cab ride. Highly recommended!

Located just a short drive away from the city centre, **Gongqing Forest Park** spans 131 hectares and has more than 300,000 trees plus tens of thousands of gorgeous tulips. It's pretty hard to believe we're still in Shanghai! Here, you can choose to go the quiet route and enjoy some bushwalking, horseriding and picnicking, or the amusement route with kite-flying, sky gliding and roller coaster riding. It was such a delight to lie back on the picnic mats, soaking up the hot sun. We decided to go on all the amusement park rides and boy it was fun! I can't even remember the last time I went to an amusement park. This one was fun because it was all shrouded in the tree, and there were quite a few rides to check out. Spring has sprung! ** PHOTOS HERE: http://beverly.livejournal.com/712568.html **
