English map for APSARA Spa

This Cambodian-themed spa is a City Weekend favorite. After getting oiled up and rubbed down by some of the best therapists in the city, you’ll feel as relaxed as a ball of putty. A variety of treatments employ oils and products imported directly from Cambodia. Treatments are also available through their at-home spa service.

As much as I love the massage and the fragrant interior, the lady at the reception can be a little too pushy with selling the rmb 4000 or more programs. One would think that saying no thank you once per visit would be enough, but she just can’t stop. I don’t blame her personally, maybe the management can consider a less pushy method of bringing more guests in? Will still continue to be your regular, just stop asking people to spend more-as if paying RMB 280 is not enough for an hour’s massage.

You're lucky bisw! At least the first time you went the service was good! The first and only time we went was terrible! A lot of "Expat" places like this can do as they please as they have a captive audience of non-chinese speaking foreigners who feel they have no other choice. "nwffc"

This place is good the first time you go..but don't fall into the hype and buy a membership..then the service and quality will decrease dramatically. IF you do like shoddy service and truck driving-burping massage girls..then this will be the place for you!

Hi Nars, my family enjoyed their treatment with Apsara so extremely much and as an appreciation we both put our comments on this website. No need to be so suspicious ;) I’m sorry to hear your visit to Apsara Spa was a disappointed. During the last couple of years in China I visited quite a lot of up scaled Spa’s. Some were really good without anything negative to say about but with Apsara Spa I felt they were better than the others. Perhaps it was the Coconut scrub that I had for the first time what made it more special!

I hate to say this: But what are the chances that two people who join on the same day have exactly the same kind of positive things to say about the place?

Last week during our Shanghai trip we enjoyed our 30 years Anniversary in Apsara Spa. We had a very romantic ocean bath & 4 hands massage. Awesome!!! During the flight back home I still remember the nice time we spent together in Apsara Spa. Thank you very much . Apsara Spa is the best spa I ever been. Cheers!!!

Well, I was most definitely disappointed. Which is a damn shame seeing as I was looking forward to my treatments after reading all the glowing reviews here. The ambiance and atmosphere were fine, though nothing out of the ordinary when compared with other places in the city. The service was a little slow, but I suppose it was not really a peak time so they just felt like a little lay-off. However, waiting 20 minutes after arrival for the therapists to show up is a bit out of the ordinary. We had to call them in the end. The toilet was in pretty bad shape, the shower not much better, and the plug hole was partially blocked, so we started to flood the treatment room a little without realising. Oops :S The beds were not so comfortable, and the coverings had holes in, as well as day-glo plastic pegs holding down the wrap sheets. Didn't really fit in with the decor, has to be said. The heating blankets were in a fairly lousy condition and seemed only to have two settings: Skin Blisters or Off. We had a scrub and wrap, both of which were just fine, not good, not bad. The scalp massage with the wrap was not so relaxing as the therapists kept stopping to go and wash her hands. She did offer me an extra glass of water while I was being slow cooked under the wrap and waited patiently for me to take a big gulp. A nice touch. When we finished our wrap we noticed that we hadn't been provided with another towel, so we had to use the same wet ones we used earlier, which still had remnants of the earlier scrub. Finally, the concierge seemed quite shocked when we politely declined to join the club, I think she realised we were not satisfied as she offered us a discounted massage and increased membership benefits before we left. Again, a nice touch, but no chance, sadly. All in all, there's nothing particularly terrible about the place, nor anything outstandingeither. There are many better spas out there, and the impression that I get is that the people who rave about Apsara have never before been to a truly great spa, or only speak English and therefore automatically limit their choices to places like this and Dagu Lu with their generic identikit businesses.

**Cha Cha** _APSARA Spa | Green & White Tea Royal Hand & Foot Spa Combo_ Following the success of their first “skin-food” therapy, the Vino-chocotherapy treatment, which debuted over a year ago, this spa has decided to introduce a new treatment for the spring / summer season—the tea spa. Once we arrived we were escorted to the spa’s small nail salon where we settled into a chair by the window and soaked our feet in a green tea bath. After scanning the tea menu we chose to sip some jasmine peony during out treatment, though the longjin, biluochun, kuding and jasmine chrysanthemum were tempting options as well. The tea came quickly along with some tasty pumpkin seed and peanut snacks. Our therapist began by sloughing away any roughness on our heels, then applied an exfoliating green tea scrub which she told us was rich in antioxidants. After rinsing away the scrub she massaged a white tea essence moisturizing cream into our feet and calves and then applied a thick, white tea hydrating skin mask, made with shea butter and antioxidant teas, overtop. Once our feet were wrapped up in cellophane and slipped inside heated booties she repeated the process on our hands and forearms—scrub, moisturizer, mask, heated mittens. The only downside is that while your hands are wrapped up you can only look longingly at your pumpkin seed snacks. The therapist removed our booties, rinsed the mask away and worked in a last round of white tea essence moisturizer, then freed our hands and did the same, after which we snuck in the last few tastes of jasmine peony and an extra plate of pumpkin seed snacks for good measure. Cost: RMB398
