An educational research institute, Daystar Academy aims to develop truly bilingual students. Half the day is spent in Montessori-style learning and the other half under the National Curriculum instruction in Mandarin. Both curricula stress the fundamental acquisition of knowledge through discovery and inquiry. They also place a big focus on character development and have adopted the Virtues Project TM, a Canadian project currently implemented in more than 85 countries which aims to foster understanding of personal attributes such as charity, diligence and integrity. Daystar's education program may seem to be demanding but it provides a competitive advantage and identification with cultures from both east and the west.
