Spend the day (or an entire weekend) enjoying activities such as archery, go-karting, horseback riding and more at this retreat an hour outside Beijing. As an added bonus, guests get to stay in adorable cabins that all members of the family (yes, even Rover) can enjoy. The facilities are a little run down, but it's a decent budget option.
This is a great place for a family with young kids who are starved for the outdoors. There is a clean and peaceful river that runs through the ranch, the nearby hills are challenging (but not too extreme) and provide a great panoramic view (weather permitting), and the many ranch activities and bonfire are a lot of fun. I do worry that recent rave promotions will ruin the place, the staff seems a bit lazy (they seem not to realize what a great place the Ranch could be), and we get the sense that the owners/managers are not investing in the place (focusing on their "log cabins" for sale, perhaps?) since it seems more run down than it was a few years ago, but we have gone every year and the kids still want more.
