Beijing's oldest sports bar continues to impress with its extensive beer list, hearty bar food designed by an Aussie chef, pool tables, Wednesday trivia night and plasma-screen TVs showing satellite sports. If you're looking for a sports bar, this is a capital classic.
I was recently disappointed by a meal I had there and it's made me wonder if this place should just be visited for the imported beers on tap. The food I ordered arrived cold after waiting for about half an hour to receive it. I had ordered the bangers and mash with gravy and the "gravy" just wasn't gravy. In the UK at least, it's not made out of tomatoes and it is normally brown in colour. I've always gone for their burgers or steak sandwiches which are usually good, but this time i made the mistake of ordering something other than the usual two. I didn't think my cold meal was worth the 70 kuai and I was also shocked to see that their apple crumble cost a whopping 45 kuai. A bit too steep for the quality offered in my opinion.
Staple of the Lido area, reasonable prices, all the sports channels you need and some of the best pub grub in Beijing. Especially like the chicken mushroom Pie and beer battered fish 'n chips.
Been here last week. Food is medicore and drinks prices not particularly attractive . The mojito was averagely done. The overall environment is okay and nothing spectacular. I would say its an average place but if you are staying nearby in that area perhaps you would visit more often
Had a party there last week. The new back room, I think they called it the conservatory, was great.. We ordered the Salmon, Lamb, and Steak. It was all great!
Love this place. I spend all my free time there. Try the new Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich and their Nachos. Best in Beiing!
Love the pool table, good atmosphere for kids, good food, especially the nachos and the philly cheese steak. My chinese friend loved their chinese style beef noodle soup. One of my favorite places to go in the lido area!!
I have been recently been going to Frank's Place for Tri Nations rugby. Great atmosphere and plenty of knowlegeable rugby fans. Bar food was great...they have a new foreign chef...Owners were there and gave free drafts at the begining of the game. I have been back for F-1 and cricket as well. Tues I had the set lunch...salad, rack of lamb, potatos and a drink for RMB 58..best part was watching the end of Monday night football live! If you like sports and good atmosphere...you must go.
We went here as we heard its a good foreign bar. But the we could not see many people even at 10pm, few customers. The service no problem at all as we can speak good chinese and they waiters were good. The price of the drinks is expensive for students like me. However the international sports was good to watch.
What potential this place has. Service is generally good. especially when arm waving is involved, have put up with watching the bar tenders hand rinse the glasses then refill and send out to another table, have put up with soggy chips (??), really bad chicken wings, but watering down the jagermeister? that is just wrong... And to add to the other comments about what is shown on the box... during the olympics we had to plead to get the finals shown on just one tv.... 3 strikes and you are out, I gave you over 5, luckily there are now many alternatives to Franks...
After reading all these good reviews, I really thought Frank's would be better. I will say first off that the service there is really excellent and friendly and the venue is comfortable. On the other hand, the food (we had chicken wings, chicken strips and chicken nachos...) was all really mediocre, and there was barely any cheese on the nachos and only tiny portions of sour cream and guacamole. My Bloody Mary was kind of bland and didn't come with any celery - and then I tried to fix it and ended up putting in way too much Tabasco and ruining it, although I take full responsibility for that last part. I might come here if I lived in the neighborhood anyway, like it seemed a lot of the patrons did, but I wouldn't make the trip for the food.
I love this place, the food and staff are great. I am there almost every weekend usually to watch EPL. Was quite disappointed last night when the staff told us 'the boss' insist that they have the F1 on instead of the football match. There were like half the restaurant waiting to watch the match. When we were told about the decision made by the 'boss' ... all of us left, angry and disappointed!
It's the most pleasant place I've been to, not only the friendly atmosphere, they hold regular event, such as EVERY Tuesdays' Texas Hold'em, Wednesdays' Pub Quiz and also the Fridays' Pool Table competition. I love here!
Frank's is awesome! it's one of the best pubs in town with a warm and friendly atmosphere, good service, excellent food choice and even a magician (who is so awesome!) to entertain you as you wait for your food to arrive! the food is very fresh and served in very decent portion sizes (the nachos are HUGE), happy hour means 30% off everything before 8pm, and they always hav a multitude of sports on their many flatscreens.. a great spot for a relaxing, social evening!
When the wall windows open up for the spring and summer months, a light breeze adds the perfect touch to a very sizable sports bar. With television screens scattered throughout the establishment, there isn't a bad seat in the house when at Frank's. It's one of the few places in Beijing to serve up an Irish Car Bomb. It features some amazing finger food — the nachos have an amazing cheese and ground beef topping, and the French fries are easily some of the best in the city. Sit down, relax and get a pint.
Always love hanging out at Frank's after work! Great drinks, good pool tables!
Cold beer and warm atmosphere. Great place to watch sports, play pool, and enjoy friends.
A perfect place to enjoy a good saturday along with friends, EPL and a pint Guinness. Great friendly staff Cheers
Frank's is an institution to Beijing old hands. This new Frank's is a big improvement on the old one. There are lots of places in town to watch live sports but this is my favourite every time. Great bar with plenty of space, the staff are always friendly and they quickly learn what your regular drink is. If you're new to town this is also a good place to meet the movers and shakers in the expat community.
An excellent place to spend an evening, or night if you are interested in Premiership football. Extremely friendly, efficient and hard working staff, plenty of choice of drink and food, regular pool competitions, and interesting people to meet. Highly recommended.
**Great place to hang out** Frank's is really one of my favorite places to hang out. It's good clean fun and the people are always friendly and welcoming. It's a home away from home.
