The "north capital" has ambitious plans for the future. The Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall is a look at the city as it should look by the year 2020. From the new Capital Airport and the redeveloped Central Business District to a Beijing hoping to be more green, the Exhibition Hall highlights a city that will be under constant construction well past the 2008 Olympic Games. If you're living in Beijing for an extended period of time, it's worth the visit just to get a better understanding of your city.
A number of the exhibitions are overwhelmingly boring ("Beijing is saving energy by moving to specially-designed space-age fiberglass insulation"), but the place's scale model of Beijing is astounding. Worth the trip just to gawk at.
