Started to go to Dragonfly in Shanghai back to 2007/2008. Good place to relax, but shouldn't expect to have real medical massage to cure your diseases: the staff never ask you how you are today, they are trained to follow a industrialized massage process, regardless your body or mental situation. Tried different massages & stick to the traditional Chinese full body & the foot massage now. The atmosphere in the place is nice & I always sleep during the massage time.
I love this place, and have been a regular for 2 years now. It's always the same faces at the front desk, they know your name by heart and service is fantastic. The team does a fantastic job with massages, facials and waxes.
Dragonfly Retreat gives me a peaceful and relax atmosphere. I would like to be there once again!
I've been a member of Dragonfly for 3 years and unfortunately the place has experienced a dramatic fall in its service level, both in the front desk and, even worse, in the massage quality. Even if this place is still one of the most known in town I strongly recommend to do more research and try one of the many other choices that BJ has to offer for the same price. I don't think I will renew my membership until the staff will finally remember to pay more attention to customers.
I've been there to have a bikini wax and to remove my gel nails. The girls are very polite and friendly, the place is clean and the wax was painless!! for me is very difficult to find a place to make wax but I'm very happy to suggest dragonfly to everyone has this kind of problem.
I went to the Dragonfly for an all-off Brazilian as well as a 2 hr. package of Head to Toe and a Chinese massage. Waxing: I have had a brazilian wax done in the states and I am pretty choosy on who I go to. I've had hard and soft as well as both used on me. In this experience, she only used hard wax on me, and put a very, very thick layer on me. I have to say it didn't hurt as much as it usually did. I'm thinking it was the thick wax that did it...because I've had hard waxes before and it hurt! Pros: Didn't hurt much Cons: She forgot a few because they were so thin. Maybe have a bigger light aimed there...;) Overall, I would recommend their waxing. The wax they use isn't cheap at all and you can tell by the low pain. Just make sure they get everything or ask them for a bigger lamp ;) Massage: FANTASTIC. This is the only time that I've found a massage on par with a massage I received during a Red Flower treatment at a spa resort in Vermont. In college I was a massage fanatic, getting them every 2 weeks and at least a month. But wow...the foot massage? Amazing. I was trepidatious because usually masseuses go too hard on the front muscles near my shins and I HATE THAT but he didn't! Chinese and foot massage is highly recommended. One last thing though...95% of the time I get a sports massage (mostly deep-tissue) or a combo massage depending on what the masseuse is trained in (reflexology, swedish, etc...). The chinese massage is a good massage for relaxation and the knots you can get due to the stresses of work but I wouldn't recommend it if you are an athlete. Maybe for a pre-game warmup for the serious competitiors but definitely do the normal sports massage/deep-tissue one after the game/work-out.
I've always been skeptical about getting waxed in China but I figured if I gave anywhere a shot, it'd be here. The all-off Brazilian wax (which they called Playboy) was 225 RMB and probably the best 225 I ever dropped. Professional, meticulous, and surprisingly not that painful. It was quick, only half hour, and they even threw in a small spot on my stomach for free. Highly recommended.

I love this place. I came here the first time for the manicure and it lasted so long that I had to come back and get a membership. I cannot even stay awake during foot massages, they're so great! I love that it's clean and serene.
