A perfect replica of a British curry house, this jumping joint draws in the lunchtime crowd with its sizable and tasty Indian classics. With gorgeous wooden carvings, excellent service and a very dedicated and friendly staff of Indian managers and chefs, this restaurant is a must for anyone who loves Indian cuisine.
Initially I was most impressed with this restaurant, and thought it to be one of the best in Beijing. Though the last 2 occasions I have been they appear to be more interested in sauce & less interested in the meat and vegetable content… I hope to see the dishes have a more "balanced" content in future.
After a not-so-pleasant dining experience at Guomao branch, we came to this brand new spot in shunyi. At the first sight, the artistic decor of the restaurant and its plenty space made me feel relaxed. With cold wind blowing outsides which numbed my fingers, I ordered the Indian milk tea with no doubt. Amazingly, the hot milk tea came with light aroma from ginger and other unfamiliar herbs soon gave my chilled bones a warm embrace. This time, we tried something that seemed right for our stomach, such as chicken in lemon and garlic curry and lamb curry. Out of my imagination, the flavor of chicken curry is so strong that I can't stop myself from eating it all. The eggplant gives me a good appetite too, though I don't like eggplant very much in normal times. I usually thought I wasn't a dessert person until I savored the wonderful mango ice cream. The best ice cream I've tasted in Beijing. And the warm carrot pudding, fresh, nutritious and yummy! I bet when I pass by the restaurant next time, I'll walk in the restaurant and grab a seat, waiting for the dessert to refresh my palate again.
love this place! everything is just perfect. the place is nice. the manager is really really nice. i went there twice. the first time only 3 of us. there was a big dinner for sort of like the indian community in beijing. 85% of the people in that restaurant that time was indian so we really felt we werent in beijing. we were in india having indian food. the second time, i came with a big group of 15. some of my friends were not so familiar with indian food and that time the manager himself who took the order and he answered my friends' questions patiently. something that is really rare in beijing. we loved everything that we ordered. some guests from germany loved the food so much until a lady cant help but asked the manager the secret of her meal. a little bit expensive maybe for my standard but i think its ok considering the quality of the food, the decor and the very attentive and friendly service. if there are anyone who asks me where to go for indian food, this restaurant has always been the first one i recommend.
This is one of the best restaurants I've been to in Beijing, and definitely the best Indian food in the city. The chicken and meat dishes are tender and full of flavor. The decor is beautiful. The service is very good. I went last weekend and even though there was a table of probably 20 or 30 people who ordered around the same time we did, we still weren't waiting too long for our food. Best of all, the chefs seem to be mostly (and maybe all?) Indian-- while I've never been to India, the quality and taste of the food here matches any of the best Indian restaurants I've been to in the UK, which is really saying something. I am so happy to have discovered this place and am recommending it to everyone.
Has to be the best Indian in town. The food is flawless. The staff are friendly and the management always come over to make sure everything is just right. A definite must if you fancy a curry.
The Taj Pavillion is right on spot! You can tell that they live, and love, what they do! We even had to trick them into coming out receive the award for best Indian restaurant this year. They said they'd only leave the restaurant if they had to. The food was very good, the setting comfortable, and its clear why this humble, long-term Beijing favorite still stands its ground against the rest of them.
