Run by an amiable Chinese-American woman who grew up in Brooklyn, this popular roadside restaurant offers fresh bagels, eight types of cream cheese, toasted muffins, smoked salmon, breakfast, soups, salads, sandwiches, afternoon tea and delectable artisan pizza. The large playroom makes it a great choice for families with kids.
I first went to Mrs. Shanen's because I wanted a bagel. Doesn't everybody? I live in the Shunyi area, so it was convenient for me. However, I had lunch there once, and their prices are THROUGH THE ROOF, and the food DEFINITELY wasn't worth it. RMB20 for a vanilla coke (a glass of coke with vanilla.) Go to Mrs. Shanen's for bagels ONLY. Otherwise, it's not worth it.
The bagels are awesome! By far the best I've had. The ice-cream is also divine too! I would recommend it mainly for breakfast. Avoid the sandwiches, they're not great. The pricing of drinks could be better but the lemonade is worth it!
The bagels here have been my favourite .But the quality is inconsistent, but no choice these are still the best in town. I also like Muffins and the tea.
The bagels aren't quite the gloriousness of a bagel from a cornerside store in Manhattan at 1 in the morning (the ideal bagel environment), but they're hands-down the best in Beijing. Love the way they do tea, too.
